Kryten is a sanitation droid who lives on the Jupiter mining ship known as Red Dwarf. He was found by the remaining members of the Red Dwarf crew, marooned on a planet in the remains of a ship called Nova 5 that crashed there 3 million years earlier. Aboard Red Dwarf, Kryten not only performs the jobs he is made to do as a sanitation droid, but also makes friends with the crew and becomes a vital member of their team. As time goes by, Kryten learns about different human emotions and becomes much, much more than the obediant, dull task-performing android he was built to be.
